Since there are more Pocket PC users everyday, it becomes crucial that those who are using them know how to take care of and protect their mini personal computer or personal digital assistant. In fact, the Pocket PC is even more vulnerable to theft or loss simply because it is small, does not necessarily need to fit into your pocket, and is attractive to thieves. The first thing that you should remember is that your pocket pc may not always be safe in your pocket or in a small carrying bag. If it's in your pocket then it may slip out unbeknownst to you; if it's in the simple flap of a carrying bag then it may have the risk of being stolen. A couple measures to make sure that your whole pocket pc is not stolen includes some sort of locking devices. For example, getting a secure holster and putting it on your belt clip will allow you to know that the device is there at all times. In addition, if it must be carried in the flap of a bag then make sure it is on the inside of the bag in a zipper portion so that it can't be seen by thieves.

Protecting your Data

The next thing that must be discussed is protecting your pocket pc if it does get into the hands of the wrong person. There are several on-screen and preventive measures that one can take in order to ensure that their data is not stolen. First, an on-screen prompted password should be used whenever the device is turned on or woken up from 'sleep mode' so that nobody other than you will have access to the information. The password shouldn't be something simple, either, and should contain both letters and numbers. Furthermore, certain pocket pc devices may contain fingerprinting authentication so that only you can get inside your device anyway.

Another measure that you may want to take as a precaution is to separate your most valuable data from your actual pocket pc. For example, this can be done with a portable flash drive or a flash memory card. Storing all of your important information on those devices and taking it out of your pocket pc when finished is a good preventive measure to take in case your actual pocket pc is stolen.

All things considered, there are many ways in which you can actually secure your tiny personal computer. All of these things should be thought out before actually purchasing a pocket pc to ensure that your device and information does not get stolen! Your information is too valuable in order to be passed onto the wrong individual, so protecting your pocket pc is the best thing that can be done!
